James’ MBA Graduation

James’ MBA Graduation
July 1, 2014 TMIC

James Sowden recently completed a Master of Business Administration with sub-majors in Strategic Management and Strategic Marketing.

On the day, their speaker was Mr Jack Curtis who spoke about the dynamic nature of business as he traced his career path from a Sydney-based law firm to one based in New York, then to Goldman Sachs, and finally to his current role as First Solar’s Regional Manager for the Asia Pacific Region. His main message was to keep pushing and developing yourself, which was interwoven with a good measure of humour (incl. his request to be crowd surfed to the exit if he comes in under time). James said it was great seeing his lecturers again during the ceremony, and despite the time
taken to attain his MBA, he knows that he will again return to university for further study.

James is still involved with UTS, as he is one of four high-performing students who have been offered positions as Social Innovation Fellows, who work with Not for Profits and Social Enterprises on business issues that they may face.
