Two of the TMIC team recently travelled 65km out of the Sydney CBD to conduct some field research… in a field! Visiting the southwest of Sydney, it was easy to get lost in the beauty of the great green pastures littered with cows that stretch between the many estate developments popping up around the region.
In stark contrast to the relatively new and shiny Leppington train station, the small town of Menangle was a cosy country haven, dotted with abandoned shearing sheds and great expanses. In the centre of the small town sat a small café that doubled as a post office and a bottle shop. While here, we were treated to some tasty sandwiches and marvellous scenery. We also had a chance to brush up on some Australian history, finding out that we had stumbled into the birthplace of Australian agriculture!
A feast for the eye, the mind AND the stomach all in one country town centre.
